When it comes to trucks, Ford’s F-150 earns the title of most favored year after year. At Daily News Autos, we tend to agree: the F-150 won our award for Best Truck in both 2017 and 2018.
For 2019, other manufacturers are rising to the challenge. Chevrolet, GMC, and Ram all debut redesigned versions of their full-size pickup trucks in an attempt to remain competitive. At the same time that the F-150 faces new competition, Ford attempts to corner another segment of the truck market for 2019 by reviving the Ranger, a small pickup with plenty of heritage behind its name.
While a popular saying goes that “if you own a house, you should own a truck,” a van is arguably just as practical a choice for most households and businesses. Evidence of this comes in the form of Mercedes-Benz’s popular do-it-all Sprinter, which also receives an overhaul for the new model year.
Take a peek at these new and redesigned trucks and vans hitting the market for 2019.
2019 Chevrolet Silverado
Chevrolet introduces a brand new and redesigned Silverado pickup truck for 2019. The Silverado is Chevrolet’s best-selling vehicle, and is only bested in truck sales by – you guessed it – Ford’s F-150.
Available in Regular Cab (2-door), Double Cab (4-door extended cab), and Crew Cab (cab with four full-size doors) models, the 2019 Silverado uses a longer wheelbase and larger cab, resulting in extra interior capacity for passengers. Chevrolet also includes a new bed design for the new Silverado, and thanks to materials used in the redesigned platform, the new truck nets a weight loss of 450 pounds over the previous model.
